Homebirth

We have been supporting women to birth at home for many years. Our care is respectful, individualised and evidence-based. We support you to make informed decisions about what is right for you. We are committed to supporting your birth choices and travel extensively to support women regardless of where they live. We believe you should not be disadvantaged if you live in a regional or rural area.

We offer a pregnancy, birth and postnatal package, which includes all of your pregnancy care, care during labour and birth and postnatal care for 6 weeks after baby arrives.

Pregnancy care normally involves 4 weekly appointments up until 32 weeks of pregnancy, then fortnightly until 36 weeks and then weekly up till birth (which may be up to 42 weeks). These visits usually occur in your home, with your family involved and may take around an hour or so. Whilst clinical care and assessment is provided, emotional and social support is also important, as is the getting to know your hopes and expectations, your perceived strengths and weaknesses and your fears.

During your pregnancy we aim to build a relationship of trust and confidence where you are in charge of your care. This kind of care, when you are able to build a strong and trusting relationship with your midwife, when your midwife knows your situation and medical needs well, is safe care.
