Pregnancy Care

We can provide your pregnancy care alone, with a full maternity care package or with postnatal care should you wish to birth with another provider. During your pregnancy we aim to build a relationship of trust and confidence where you are in charge of your care. This kind of care, when you are able to build a strong and trusting relationship with your midwife, when your midwife knows your situation and medical needs well, is safe care.

Your pregnancy care normally involves 4 weekly appointments up until 32 weeks of pregnancy, then fortnightly until 36 weeks and then weekly up till birth (which may be up to 42 weeks). These visits usually occur in your home, with your family involved and may take around an hour or so. Whilst clinical care and assessment is provided, emotional and social support is also important, as is the getting to know your hopes and expectations, your perceived strengths and weaknesses and your fears.

During your pregnancy visits we can provide resources and information to prepare you for labour and birth and the early days after your baby’s arrival. Being prepared with knowledge and tools for managing your labour, birth and early postnatal days can lead to a more satisfying outcome, whatever that looks like for you.

We’re looking forward to working with you during this exciting and special time!
